His comments about doing well in college or face a tour in Iraq ring true. I remember majoring in partying during the 1960s and ending up in Vietnam. Go Kerry! You are absolutely right.
Now incontinent Republican asstools are rebutting his honest statement by trying to draw away from what he meant. It is about time somebody wake up this new generation of cheerleadering chickenhawks to the very real possibility that they might have to drop their pom poms and serve.
I hope he doesn't back down. No apology necessary for stating the truth.

3. I'm not sure what a Kerry vet is |
|
but I do remember him speaking out while I was still serving. He spoke well and I agreeded with him then and I still do. I just wish he'd had this much fire in his gut in 2004, things might have been different today.

I was a Wes Clark supporter. My support to Kerry was strictly motivated by democratic partisanship.

His original statement was an attack on George W. Bush not making the most of HIS education, not about the troops and their level of schooling.
We cannot let ourselves be taken off message on this. Kerry was not eloquent with his words, but his further explanation leaves no confusion - His attack is on Bush and the administration, NOT the troops.

4. True. He spoke off the cuff |
|
and was misunderstood, but it was still the truth. Now * is neither eloquent or articulate. How many times has he spoken and mangled the message?

8. Kerry isn't a comedian |
|
He's a Senator, and as such engages in nuance like implying Bush got us in the Iraq mess through implication, not direct language. The fact that Kerry isn't running for office and Rove has directed so much venom at him indicates Rove took the bait and put the Iraq failure back in the spotlight. It's almost as if Kerry knew how they would react. Republicans are experts at feigned indigence over trivia. Remember when Kerry cited Mary Cheney's sexual preference in a debate and the Republican smear machine went into action calling Kerry a bad man for discussing a well known fact. They're very good at throwing panties-in-a-bunch, nose-out-of-joint hissy fits and temper tantrums. If the angry Republicans are so pissed off they should sign up for a uniform and boots and go fight Bush's failed occupation in Iraq. The irony is the draft dodgers, punks and cowards in the White House are challenging John Kerry. Why do Republicans hate Americans? Thank Zeus I'm a Democrat

Kerry's remarks was directed to the broken down job force of America under this outrageous Bush administration which forces millions to consider their own 'duty calls' with our military for those survival paychecks. Without that expensive and extreme college degree, many are faced with signing up in the military. Even most college grads will be faced with choices for working 'over yonder' under USA's Uncle Neocon contract. The only thing Kerry left out of his poorly timed speech was instead of Iraq being the headlined port of call, he should have also included Iran, N Korea or Venezuela.

10. Hi AbsoluteArmorer, I knew we were on the same page |

I don't think many people realize how tenuous their security is right now. I remember in the 60s when I graduated from high school just thinking that paying my tuition to college was enough to save my ass, but it wasn't. They changed the rules often with the changing tides of the conflict in Vietnam. I ended up getting drafted into a fight I didn't believe in.
I think that what Kerry said was poorly timed but true. He is our generation and knows the dangers of complacency. The present generation could be called up at any time. The misadministration in Washington right now has pumped the well dry and poisoned it for the all volunteer army. The only way they are going to be able to pursue their plan of perpetual war is to re-enact some sort of draft. Even the back door draft is running out now and they can't keep throwing reservists into the fray because soon they will have served their terms and you can bet they won't be volunteering for more.
I am sick and tired of democrats apologizing every time they step on the toes of this administration. These chickenhawk sons of a bitches can sure dish it out, but they can't take it. Screw them. When we let these pimple butted, multiple deferremented, dipshits get away with their crap then we aren't doing our duty. We need to slap them down at every opportunity. All I can say is go Kerry, keep it up and to hell with the cowardly bastards that got us into this mess.
The greedy neocon shitheads that got us into this mess should all be prosecuted for war crimes. And to the snarky comment I got earlier about being a "Kerry vet" who drove people away, well I'll vote for a democratic vet every time. Whenever I hear about a Repub vet I wonder if they can still remember the serial number on their goddam typewriter. Veterans flocked to Kerry by the droves, it was only the lying bastards and swiftboaters who spread their poison that embarrassed and insulted the rest of us.

11. Ditto !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

We are on the same page Lowell, especially when it comes to Kerry and those in the Democratic party who seems to attack what's best in the party's best interest during these very bad times under this Bush regime. Seems like when Kerry now takes off the gloves and fight a little, the likes of a Clinton and Ford comes out and slams him hard. We don't need that shit!!
You know what the problem is Lowell? Kerry is too honest for these gaggle of neocon bastards in DC! That's why he gets attacked the way he does even from both sides. It's time to shit can the lot from both sides and start over!!!
