BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — Buckley Air Force Base plans to detonate six sticks of dynamite because the material has become unstable.

The dynamite was used to train explosives-sniffing dogs.

Lt. Col. Nancy Staats says it’s too unstable to ship elsewhere for disposal, so it will be detonated at Buckley on Friday.

She says there’s no danger to the public although the blast may be audible around the base in the east Denver suburb of Aurora.

Staats says an explosives disposal team from the Colorado Air National Guard will detonate the dynamite.
