Ex-Soldier Feels 'No Need to Testify'
November 15, 2008
McClatchy-Tribune Information Services

An Iraq War veteran said he will not take the witness stand in his defense on a charge of first-degree murder.

Louis Bressler, 25, is suspected of shooting Fort Carson Spc. Kevin Shields to death Dec. 1 in Colorado Springs.

Fourth Judicial District Judge Theresa Cisneros advised Bressler today of his right to testify if he wanted to, no matter what his defense attorneys recommended.

When she asked his decision, Bressler said: "I'm not going to testify."

When the judge asked why, Bressler responded: "Because I feel there's no need to, your honor."
