Bush hadn't fulfilled his National Guard service during the Vietnam war
Dan Rather, to this day, supports the fact that what he reported on CBS about Bush's unfulfilled NG duty was accurate. I agree with him!

Rather: 'Memogate' story was accurate

It was this latter category that brought an end to Mr Rather’s network career after critics challenged documents used to support a story questioning whether Mr Bush had fulfilled his National Guard service during the Vietnam war. Just two months before the presidential election, "Memogate" ignited a conflagration on the internet and revived accusations of liberal bias against Mr Rather and CBS. Mr Rather dug in, but CBS backed away and said that it could not guarantee the documents' authenticity.

Mr Rather still stands by the story. "They were successful in building a negative aura about the story in the one area where we were vulnerable. But the story is accurate," he said.

1. And nobody doubts it. I bet even the repukes understand that
the guy went AWOL. I mean, there are some truths (as the saying goes) that are self-evident.

3. Amen to that. Kudos to Dan Rather for sticking to his story.
Thank God there is one journalist in America today who hasn't sold his soul up the river to the Cheney Bush cabal. I was just commenting how tragic it was that a draft dodger could win(but of course he didn't win, he was appointed by SCOTUS, as we all know), over a decorated veteran.

Now all of us must reap the whirlwind. This is really tragic. More than half my family has served in the military, and I am so glad they are all out now.:argh:

Thanks for sharing. It's people like you who keep me coming back.

4. Yet the media was all too accommodating in painting John Kerry's....
service to his country as suspect. :eyes: I wonder why the media didn't back away from THAT story. Of the two stories bush's service record was by far more suspect, but it was John Kerry, Purple Hearts and all, that took the brunt of criticism and derision.

Damned Liberal Media! :banghead:

7. Good Point!
That's a direct hit about how the news media broke it's neck to slash Kerry but yet suck on Bush's ass during Rather's CBS execution. The Bush cabal gets medals and honorable men like Kerry and Rather get trashed. Go figure.

5. BUSH DESERTED THE MILITARY TO AVOID A DRUG TEST
and "conservatives" love him. Supporters of the party of values support him. And now he is getting our kids killed because he has no plan, no goals, no objectives.

My hate is rational.

9. Hold the popcorn ...
If he is charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced, I'd guess he might get a presidential pardon. Just thinkin'.
