An senior master sergeant at Yokota Air Force Base, Japan, was pronounced dead Friday shortly after collapsing during a physical fitness test, base officials announced.

Senior Master Sgt. James Strong, 47, collapsed after completing the run portion of his PT test, according to a 374th Airlift Wing news release. Emergency medical responders began advanced cardiac life support, and Strong was transported to Yokota’s Urgent Care Clinic, where resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful, the release said.
