ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — After hearing from residents of Alamogordo, White Oaks and Nogal, a Holloman Air Force Base official pledged to reconsider an effort to minimize supersonic booms from the F-22 Raptor.

Lt. Col. Alexus Grynkewich, 49th Operations Support Squadron commander, told Lincoln County commissioners he plans to note the locations of the affected towns to see how contact could be reduced.

Grynkewich cautioned he must balance training goals with potential impacts on communities. He said many of the problems could be resolved with more access to the Army’s White Sands Missile Range to the southwest.

Efforts to use that airspace are under way, Grynkewich said.

The first two F-22s arrived at Holloman in June and four more are expected in December. Eventually, 40 Raptors will be stationed at Holloman — one-third of the total number of those aircraft.

1. I wish JAX NAS would get their shit together
They usually don't begin their low flying training missions and touch and goes until after 10pm. I guess that's the only time our nation is at risk for an invasion so they train at that time so frequently.
