Need opinions on a postcard to a soldier please |
|
My mail carrier's son is being deployed to Iraq.
I wanted to drop him a line since he has roughly the same MOS I did when I was in the Navy.
I found a postcard (an ad for a lollipop) captioned "things that suck" w/ cartoons of a vampire, octopus, vacuum and of course the lollipop on the front.
The message commiserates and hopes that he'll have amazing adventures. I sign off "Go Navy, Beat Army, Get Home Soon!"
Is that totally insensitive? Am I completely wrong? I thought it was funny but now I'm really insecure about it. I don't know him, but I know how cool it is to get mail when you're deployed, and if I were in his shoes I'd really dig the postcard. But I'm not normal.
please help thanks

I was advised to tone it down until I could guess at the guy's sense of humor. They're right, it's better to play it safe.
I'll get a generic CA card or something..
Thanks everyone
