MINOT, N.D. — An airman who suffered serious head injuries in Iraq nearly two years ago is returning to active duty as an instructor.

Scott Lilley got official clearance from Air Force doctors. He told his parents, Frank and Jolene Lilley of Roswell, N.M., on Jan. 14, the day before the three of them attended President George W. Bush’s final speech in the White House.

Frank Lilley said Bush took a special interest in Scott, and after his speech, he gave Scott a hug and whispered, “Good job. You did it.”

Scott Lilley has been stationed at Lackland Air Force Base with a patient squadron since leaving the Minot Air Force Base last July. He will join the 343rd Security Forces Squadron at Lackland as instructor.

Lilley was injured in Iraq in April 2007, when a roadside bomb hit the Humvee in which he was riding.

1. Let's hope *ush didn't also rub his head
Or grab him around the neck, as he is often wont to do.

I'm sooooooo glad he's out of there!
