Miramar Marine killed in fiery freeway crash

OCEANSIDE, Calif. — A female Marine died in a fiery single-car crash early Saturday on a San Diego highway, authorities said Tuesday, a crash that also killed her male passenger.

Officials at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego identified her as Lance Cpl. Amanda Kennah, 28, of Lander, Wyo.

Kennah, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, worked as a personnel clerk at the Installation Personnel Administration Center at the air station, air station officials said in a release.

According to California Highway Patrol, Kennah was speeding on Interstate 15 south, near the air station, when her 2000 Kia Spectra went out of control and crashed into a barrier about 2:15 a.m. Saturday. The car burst into flames.

Her passenger, Bruce G. Molina Jr., 32, also died, authorities said.
