SD schools agree to expand ROTC programs

BROOKINGS, S.D. — Officials at Augustana College and South Dakota State University say a new agreement will allow Augustana students to be commissioned in the U.S. Air Force by taking Air Force ROTC classes at SDSU.

Augustana students can compete for in-college scholarships for tuition and fees as well as a monthly stipend and book allowance.

The agreement means Augustana will be listed on the Air Force ROTC Web site along with more than 1,000 other colleges and universities.

It also means high school students applying for four-year Air Force ROTC scholarships through the Web site will have one more South Dakota option.

SDSU says it has a similar agreement with Dakota State University.
