military news. Some posts have no replies or recs. A few become part of the flow into the day. The news is from military papers as I determine it.

Our young soldiers - rarely heard or seen on corporate networks.

Take a look each day to learn how their lives are being determined.

This post is about KBR and soldier illnesses - and a few hours later we read that they received another contract.

Don't forget the early risers. Take a look.

2. I think you can go directly to the Veterans Forum and you'll see them all.
If not, you can click to the time by going to screen 4 (+-) at the bottom of the screen. The person who posts them when I notice them is the 'unhappycamper'.

5. Perhaps the Stimulus isn't packing enough punch but let's not forget Obama's promise & Shinseki lead
Obama: No one 'more qualified' than Shinseki to head VA

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/12/07/obama.shinseki/index.html

Obama said the nation must focus on helping troops who have served their country especially during bad economic times.

"We don't just need to better serve veterans of today's wars. We also need to build a 21st century VA that will better serve all who have answered our nation's call," Obama said.

He said Shinseki would have to make key connections with the veterans community, adding, "This is a big name and it shows that he is not going to treat the Veterans Affairs secretary as a low priority."

John Rowan, president of Vietnam Veterans of America, called the reported pick an "interesting choice."

"I am satisfied with it," Rowan told CNN on Saturday, adding that the choice seems to be in the Obama transition team's pattern of "bringing in strong personalities into all the positions who aren't going to 'yes' him to death."

"When Shinseki had his disagreements with the administration, he wasn't afraid to speak up," Rowan said.

Veterans for Common Sense also weighed in, issuing a statement "strongly" supporting Shinseki.

.........

I am hopeful for all our Veterans including my husband and 3 sons that with Shinseki's lead we will see a new and better day for all Veterans!
:fistbump:

Thanks for the shout out.

For the last few years, I've been posting daily (except when I'm on vacation) from:

Army Times
Navy Times
Marine Corps Times
Air Force Times
Stars & Stripes
military.com

A good friend of mine, livvy, sometimes posts for me on the weekend. to livvy.

uhc

on edit to add: I think it's important to see what the DoD's Department of Propaganda has to say about current military / military-effecting events.
