Civilians in U.K. to see bump in post allowance

Civilians working in the United Kingdom will soon see a bigger paycheck due to more post allowance.

Some active-duty personnel in the U.K., meanwhile, will also receive a higher adjustment, though they won’t see as much of an increase as their civilian counterparts.

Some U.S. civilian employees in the U.K. will see their allowance double, a rise attributed to changes in the currency exchange rate as of Feb. 5, according to the State Department’s Web site.

RAFs Mildenhall and Lakenheath are among the U.K. locations that will see the biggest boost in post allowance. There, for example, civilians earning between $42,000 and $44,999 annually will see yearly post allowance grow from $1,480 to $2,960, a 50-percent increase. Per paycheck, the new amount will be $114, up from $57, for that pay range.

But such post allowance gains may be short-term.
