MANNHEIM, Germany — German and U.S. Army authorities are investigating the death of a soldier whose body was found in his Coleman Barracks room Thursday morning.

The soldier, with the 1st Battalion, 214th Aviation Regiment, was found at about 9:30 a.m. by other soldiers in his unit after he did not report for duty, according to U.S. Army Europe officials.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a German doctor.

The soldier’s name and age were not released, pending notification of next of kin.
