Another delay for joint pay system

Implementation of the long-anticipated DIMHRS pay and personnel management system for all the armed forces remains on hold and will not be launched March 1 in the Army as previously planned.

Designed as a joint service program, the Defense Integrated Military Human Resources System has been delayed five times since 2006 as technologists struggle to adapt a commercial product, PeopleSoft, to military applications.

Just within the Army, DIMHRS will merge 70 management and data systems.

With more than 1 million soldiers in its active and reserve components, the Army will be the first to field DIMHRS whenever it gets the nod from the Defense Department.

The Pentagon revoked the March 1 debut of the system in mid-December because of problems that arose during acceptance testing.
