An 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion soldier died Thursday morning following injuries sustained in a Feb. 21 car accident, according to an Army news release.

Spc. John Jeffries, a light wheel mechanic with the battalion, was pronounced dead by a German physician at the Erlangen University Klinikum.

The Killeen, Texas, native, was 26.

Two other soldiers traveling in the vehicle with Jeffries at the time sustained only minor injuries.

The accident occurred on autobahn 73 near Forchheim, about 25 miles north of Nuremberg.
