Mass. newlyweds hope to be together when they serve in Iraq
BOSTON -- A newlywed military couple from Rockland are relieved now that they expect to be able to serve together when they're sent to Iraq within weeks.

Amrmy Reservists Heather Maddy and Mac White married in May months after volunteering for a 400-day tour in Iraq. They volunteered together in part so they wouldn't have to deal with the pain of separate deployments.

While they're waiting for their final assignments, they're expecting to be able to serve together after writing about their case to Senator John Kerry and Congressman William Delahunt.

Maddy is a surgical technician from South Shore Hospital, and White is a correction officer at Bridgewater State Hospital. Maddy expects to work in Iraq as an operating room surgical technician.

1. I sincerely hope they get their wish
and that the Army doesn't break yet another promise they have made to the troops.

2. I really don't care
WHY are people still volunteering in Iraq?????

That is a sincere question, and I would love at least one response that makes sense.

3. I guess it could be one or more of the following reasons
1) They really believe the right-wing lies.
2) They just want a chance to kill them some a-rabs.
3) They have friends serving over there, and want to be there to help take care of them.
4) They need the extra combat pay to keep the bank from foreclosing on their subprime mortgage, despite holding down three jobs in this "booming" republick economy.
