The Rest and Recuperation program at Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar, surpassed 145,000 participants this month, officials said Friday.

The R&R program was established in 2004 to give a short break to troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries in the region. The program offers four-day passes that give a respite from the war zone.

Among the activities are shopping trips, swimming, a Chili’s restaurant, and a bar (three drink limit), along with a spa and some limited golf offerings.

Trips to sand dunes, the beach, water sports offerings and cruises are also popular.

uhc comment: I'm glad our boys and girls get some time off from the meat grinder. It's only four days, but it's four days of not getting blown up.
