Transfer of authority Sunday in Tikrit

A transfer of authority ceremony will take place Sunday at Contingency Operating Base Speicher in Tikrit, Iraq, between commanders of the 25th Infantry Division and the 1st Armored Division.

COB Speicher has been the headquarters for Multi-National Division North, headed for the past 15 months by Task Force Lightning commander, Maj. Gen. Benjamin R. Mixon, who is commanding general of the 25th ID.

Taking his place will be Task Force Iron Commander Maj. Gen. Mark Hertling, commanding general of 1st Armored Division.

Hertling, the Iraqi Army commanding generals in the MND-N area and the provincial directors of police will hold a joint press conference following the ceremony.
