WTF?
I have been on DU for just about or just over a year. I check in every day because I learn. Like it or not I am an old Marine. I like reading here but you know what pisses me off? The entire time I have been here reading, everyone always prefaces there comments about the war with "I support the troops but..."

Today is Veterans Day. I don't see one comment or post about the guys and women serving.

Sorry, But that just plain sucks.

2. Hmm I think you are wrong. A lot of people here are vets and many here
on a daily basis thank the troops for their service both past and present. So what sucks about that?

4. I am a vet myself...no need to do...
...the "like it or not I am an old Marine" thing...most of us here honor the service of the folks in uniform, as we remember our own service.

We didn't do it expecting to be celebrated...I don't think...

:hi:

And most normal people are in bed.

8. Actually, Sunday is/was Veteran's Day
It's observed on Monday as a federal holiday, but November 11 is the official holiday.

San Francisco's parade was held today, as I believe were those of many other cities.

9. May be in part due to Veteran's Day being today (well, yesterday
Edited on Mon Nov-12-07 01:36 AM by NCevilDUer
by now, the 12th) but being celebrated tomorrow (actually, today, the 13th).

There are, and will be, plenty of acknowledgments of the day. I've seen them every year. And having been in the Marines myself, back in the dark ages (74-76) I've watched for them.

ON EDIT - And tho you've been here for a year, as you have a low post-count I reckon I can still offer a hearty Welcome to DU.:patriot:

14. Hey, c'mon, it's three in the morning.
You expect me to know what day it is?

Yeah, Sunday was the 11th. Monday, the celebrated day, is the 12th.

And I'm going to bed.

10. You know what else sucks?
Disingenuous hit and runs.

I hope you just had to step away and haven't seen these responses. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for now.

There are lots of "old" vets here, myself included.

12. I posted this video -
Not to promote my candidate, but to make others aware of the situation our troops and vets are facing.
