the house Veteran's affairs committee this AM. Some congressman stated that "veterans have to tighten their belts and pay more for their healthcare." The person who relayed this to me was so angry he forgot who the congressman was. I want to call this jerk.

2. They are gonna try to screw us, of that I have no doubt

They are working to turn TRICARE PRIME into TRICARE STANDARD without the choice and freedom. Lord only knows what STANDARD will devolve to....a year or so back, they floated the idea of making us pay for prescriptions filled at MTF pharmacies, but the uproar over that made them step back from it a bit (plus the fact that it would be a billing headache at the treatment facility--they'd have to assign someone to collect the checks, and if any bounced, it would put more work on the finance/disbursing officer).

What they ARE doing, though, is eliminating all high cost, primarily "geezer" drugs from military pharmacies, and requiring people to either pay the co-pay at a civilian pharmacy, or try to get it through mail-order.

That's BushCo for ya--vets and retirees don't get the care that fatcats in the House and Senate get, that's for sure.

I could push my wheelchair out of the VAMC and confront these bastards, but it seems to accomplish nothing.

The leaders of DAV and PVA have railed against cutbacks in veterans' health care for the past few years. What'd they accomplish? A change in rules limiting how long they could testify.
