Looks like there's a significant decrease |

in meta-fundy posts on DU. Still a few tries, but it seems to have petered out... Or am I optimistic?

1. I know one of them ... |
|
posts on a private 'so-called Christian' website I found when I Googled his/her screen name. I wondered at the time -- I think I may even have posted it in a thread in here -- if they weren't planning disruptions on their private site then coming over here and posting divisive material to get the shit stirred up. I expressed this suspicion to several people back-channel, and sent them the URL for the site -- I wonder if somebody challenged one or more of them on that? I probably should have, but I was studying for a final in a class I had this week, I didn't have time to get into a clusterf*ck with a true believer and I don't have a free e-mail account established at Hotmail or anywhere with which I can do that with impunity.

2. I thought a lot of the stirring was coming from posters |

who joined shortly after the election. I did wonder if it was a coordinated attack, but never started the web research to find out. Well done if your actions did help get rid of it.

4. I don't know if it had any effect or not. |

I wonder if just mentioning their site may have backed them down, but it could be they'd sown enough dissension here they felt like they'd done their 'job' and bailed out, too. Several of the ones who started threads that wound up being 'holy wars' were determined to be disruptive and banned, that much I do know. If I played a small part in that, I'm happy -- even if not, it's always better when people who only come here to stir the pot are rooted out and banned. Best of all possible worlds for me, either way!
