The earth is only 6000 years old the Grand Canyon was carved by the waters of Noah's flood evolution is satan's big trick to keep people from believing God created the world and everything in it in seven days God answers prayer but God works in mysterious ways millions of people prayed for Terri Schiavo and nothing happened a National Day of Prayer will fix everything and help raise President Bush's approval rating "Mike Newdow is on a train whose destination is designed to hide and undermine the role of religion in public life. We want to restore religion to the public square" Christians are the most persecuted people in America I'M fucking SICK of it!

4. I demand to see some proof the NDofP did any good! |
|
No deaths in Iraq today? A dramatic drop in the murder rate? Did conservatives and liberals suddenly embrace and begin to work out our differences? Was there a huge drop in crime? No babies were abused today? Just what did prayer accomplish, damn it?

5. Okay, okay. I'm alright. |
|
Whew! It's been building up for a long time, probably exacerbated by a woman I have to work with who makes every decision only after "much prayer". Only her "faith in God," and being able to "talk with God" when she's trouble keep her going. :eyes:
Someday I'm going to unload on her, I just know it.
<takes deep breath> Okay, I'm alright now....

8. Ask her if she's sought help for her addiction... |
|
And when she gets good and angry, tell her to think about her daily situations and rituals, only instead of "GAWD", think "Booze" or "a Drink"..
"If it wasn't for GAWD, I don't know HOW I'd make it through the day." "if it wasn't for BOOZE, I don't know HOW I'd make it through the day."
"I always rely on GAWD before I make a descision..." "I always rely on a Drink before I make a descision..."
"GAWD works in mysterious ways..." "BOOZE works in mysterious ways..."
"GAWD loves me!" "Booze loves me!"
"I've turned my life and my family over to GAWD.." "I've turned my life and my family over to BOOZE..."
See how it works?

17. I am SO sick of everything these days |
|
I hate the Republicans for fucking up the country and I hate the Democrats for letting them do it. I hate the religious idiots for allowing themselves to be lobotomized into robots for Bush. They more Bush screws up the country, the more they pray to dead space.

that made a fuss about the inappopriateness of government officials endorsing religion.
At this point, that would be a major step forward.

that probably 80% of the people who were in NOLA during the hurricane were praying? Including most of the ones who died?
Prayer sure did them a fuck of a lot of good, didn't it?

Let's have a year of prayer, then a year without prayer, and see which one turns out better.
The scientific method, yay!

21. Guess I will pray to Satan |
|
At least you know where you stand with Satan. The prince of darkness is evil and his followers are evil, accept it and go on.
With the pray to jesus crowd you never know where you stand.
Thou shall not kill, unless the nut-case in the White House says it is ok. Thou shall not lie, unless it justifies going to war to kill. Thou shall not steal, unless it is oil and you have already broken a few other commandments. Yep, never really know where you stand with this bunch.
So here it goes...."Satan, stop being an asshole, quit your evil ways and stop behaving like those in the jesus cult fundie crowd."
Damn, chimpy was right, I do feel better. Hope my prayer was well received on this belated day of prayer.

22. Just what evil has the devil done? |
|
I know the devil got blamed for everything in the bible, but what did the devil actually do? Back in Genesis the devil told Adam and Eve to eat the fruit of knowledge and they would not die from it. The devil was right. It was the god that brought death, weeds, and plagues into the humans lives. It was the god that brought ineffective plagues to Egypt and then killed the first born of the Egyptians and their beasts. What was the devil's role in these murders of innocent lives? Bad god, bringing all those ineffective plagues and doing all that killing when a little temporary paralysis would have gotten the job done.

24. I like John Milton's take on it. |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-18-05 12:50 PM by onager
"Better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven."
Casting Lucifer out was apparently just one of many management crises Gawd had to deal with, back in the Good Old Days.
As I remember from serving my sentence in Baptist Sunday School, he screwed up every one of them: --that free will thing in the Garden Of Eden --the whole sin problem which caused him to kill everybody in a flood, sort of like a petulant toddler breaking its toys; --the argument with his own angels which caused the smartest one, Lucifer, to go into competition with his former boss. And offering much more attractive merchandise!
Guy just can't do anything right.
