That's ignorance, bigotry and hatred, just like you see from the crew at fred phelps' place.
WHat would happen to those posts if they said that about jews or black people?

Looks like some of the supposedly enlightened and educated left are no better than fred phelps when it comes to atheists.
SAVE those posts! They will get deleted and I want a record. I will do the same when I get home.

8. Robertson and Falwell are atheists? |
|
WTF?
That's even funnier than the Infamous MB Psychic's Thread.
Which I note...with my keen eye for detail...STILL does not contain one useful prediction about the time, place, duration etc. of Hurricane Rita.
Just the usual personal anecdotes and attacks on rationalism.
If I couldn't laugh at this stuff, I'd REALLY be pissed...

That last post of his was pure "Fuckin' witcher Family" stuff.
"Prohibited from praying in school" Guess he was never in school the morning of Finals, was he?
But then, he probabaly subscribed to the "No True Scotsman" model of Christians who make a buck off of Comerce.
And I'm sure that those Giants of Merchandising that I blamed for "comercializing Xmas" were, if not Christian, at the least Goyim...

10. Damn! Coming in here I feel like Quasimodo... |
|
...swinging on the rope and yelling: "Sanctuary! Sanctuary!"
My major contribution: suggesting that those Dems who are blasting the atheists today would have been calling us Commies 50 years ago and sucking up to Joe McCarthy.
Glad to do anything I can to help calm the tensions...

|
...without committing the heresy of posting links.
Claims are being made that since Pat Robertson and Falwell aren't "real Xians," then they must be...atheists.
No, I'm not making that up. Just go to R&T and check the two threads near the top with Trotsky's name on them.
Then, for some light comedy relief, go to The Meeting Room and see MB's hilarious thread asking for predictions from all psychics, astrologers and Nostradumbass fans.

I'm not emily fucking post and I say EXACTLY what I fucking mean.
WHen someone states REPEATEDLY that christians are better than atheists after being "reasoned with", get out of the way.
Not directed at you Tax, you've tried to calm me down before, and I thank you for that because it shows you care and don't want me ts'd, and you've never tried to clean up after me.

But it can turn selfrighteous saints into overbearing thugs.
There is room for all ways and all forms of expression. I can just tell you that I find that by holding the moral high ground you turn the ones that are pig headed into the villains for all to see. Sometimes it takes just such an example to convince some.

...for me to respond to this doozy:
Here's a consolation prize your transparent attempt to ridicule and trivialize religion posing as legitimate posts- and those of your co-conspirators - have diminished the quality of religious discussion on DU for some time.
And it has nothing to do with atheism, it has to do with a presumptuous attitude, and aggressive evangelizing. Is it not enough to practice your belief in peace? You seem to feel some sort of incessant desire to fuel your own self-worth by attacking the faith of others. This whole discussion, and others that have been popping up in clusters recently, are obvious and insulting attempts to draw people of faith into conversations just so you can attempt to logistically prove the invalidly of their religion
LOGISTICALLY prove? What, are we arguing that the supplies of religion are failing?
Excuse me...
BWAH!
And I want an Official Atheist Co-Conspirator medal! With bronze Woo-Woo Assault Cluster!

20. Maybe it's a feminist thing, |
|
or maybe it's because I'm little
or maybe it's from growing up with all brothers who never wasted an opportunity to remind me of how much weaker I was
or maybe it's the leftover attitude from beating off 200 lb Marine Corps rocks who thought they could intimidate me into doing something I didn't want to do
or maybe it's an overactive defense mechanism I developed while being married to a bully for years
or maybe it's just because I'm an asshole
I don't really fucking care to analyze the reasons why I feel threatened and I really don't feel like I should have to justify why I refuse to let people walk all over me so that I will be "liked".
I just know that being nice to people like that has NEVER been the intelligent choice for someone like me who has always to fight for my goddamn rights.
Trust me, the lessons I've learned were hard ones.
I was stupid enough to think I could be "nice" to all the above mentioned people.
Guess where it got me.

21. You don't have to appologise for being you |
|
We each have our way of doing things. We all found our ways after a lifetime of experience. We do what works for us. I happen to be able to make being nice work for me. Thats my thing. If you find anything advantageous to your way by watching my way please feel free to take it. If not there is no reason for you to walk like me, talk like me, or dress like me (dang, turned into eminem). You are you. Keep being you.

26. Oh and apparently it's eminently "logical" to think so. |
|
Because anyone who has "faith" could never be the greedy, manipulative SOB that Robertson is, ergo he MUST be an atheist.
Imagine if that sentiment had been used in any other context:
"Anyone white would never be that mean, so the criminal must have been black."
"Anyone straight would never have been that perverted, so the child molester must have been gay."
And yet when it comes to atheists, it's A-OK.
But I digress, after all, it's my mission to find fake persecution everywhere and whatever else it is that I do.
