Interesting GD post "Societies worse off when they have God on their side"
"RELIGIOUS belief can cause damage to a society, contributing towards high murder rates, abortion, sexual promiscuity and suicide, according to research published today....

...Many liberal Christians and believers of other faiths hold that religious belief is socially beneficial, believing that it helps to lower rates of violent crime, murder, suicide, sexual promiscuity and abortion. The benefits of religious belief to a society have been described as its “spiritual capital”. But the study claims that the devotion of many in the US may actually contribute to its ills."

4. Yup, and if you post the 10 Commandments everywhere
to remind people not to steal, lie, murder, fornicate, etc., they won't ever do those things. They just need to see the plaque, and then the guy with the .45 will slap his forehead and go, "Oh, shit, that's right - I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO MURDER PEOPLE! Damn, good thing that plaque was there on the side of the courthouse - I nearly forgot!"

Finally, some expensive research project proves what I (and many agnostics/atheists) already knew!
