This country would be much better off if it ditched the Bible and ...
replaced it with the new compilation of all ten years of Calvin and Hobbes cartoon strips.

Calvin and Hobbes books are my Bible. Bill Watterson is the closest thing I have to a god. No matter how low or depressed I feel, pulling out one of his books and reading some of Calvin's exploits always has me laughing again.

But it's not Watterson's humor as much as the way he capturs the human spirit. Calvin experiences about every human failing, every human emotion, known to man, but Hobbes is always there to put things in perspective. But more than anything, Calvin loves life, and enjoys it to the fullest! He has confidence in himself, he isn't afraid to take chances, he isn't afraid to fail.

This whole world would be better off if we studied the lessons Calvin learned (usually the hard way), and approached life with the zest and enthusiasm the way Calvin did.

1. Amen to that, GOPF!
I could definitely dig THAT kind of Calvinism.

2. Oddly enough,
that IS the Calvin that Calvin was named after.

Best comic strip ever!

3. I love what Calvin does with Snowmen.
Creative kid. If he was real, his school counselors would probably have him doped up into zombie-hood...

Gotta be careful, though...you'll have the myth believers in here screaming "Blasphemer! Basher! You're PERSECUTING me!"

5. Bwahahahahaha!
I just exited the Sphincter and (after a good delousing) am prepared to say: I would prefer to spend eternity with Calvin and Hobbes than a Sunday morning with any of those maggots.

6. Im glad you said that
I am 100% the same way, I grew up with Calvin and Hobbes and I own the whole collection, I love whipping out some my books and getting lost for several hours with Watterson. It's interesting to see the long term impact that strip has had in my live.

/Hobbes can kick Garfields ass
