The "Tyranny of the Minority" continues...

The right, especially the religious right, who now enjoy complete control of all branches of government, are still not happy. They continue to play the "victim" card. This time they are the "poor, persecuted Christian majority", who are being victimized by the 'politically-correct" minority. In actuality, they are on a crusade to impose their "religiously-correct" view of America on the rest of us. Their hubris is truly mind-boggling.

"Heathen Rage Against Christmas" (This one's my favorite. It's by a freelance Christian writer and it's got lots of hate-filled Bible quotes justifying the destruction of liberals and other non-believers. )

Finally, Christians will have to learn about the history of their religion, such as the fact that Christmas is a made up holiday purposely moved to this date in order to commandeer other older celebrations: there was Epiphany (Jan.6th) before there was Christmas; hence, the 12 days of Christmas.

I have absolutely had it with fascist fundies, completely in control of every branch of government, who gritch about being persecuted.

3. Holy Shit, it's everywhere

I was subjected to two days of fox news this week. :puke:
I kept thinking that I was in the Twilight Zone. All they talked about was taking back xmas. I was actually relieved to listen to Charles Krauthammer talk about something of substance instead.

4. I want to see them ...

find frankincense and myrrh instead of Xboxes and diamonds to give each other for Xmas. That would be fun. Since that's what their inerrant bible dictates as appropriate Xmas gifts and all. Well, and gold, of course -- but no precious or semiprecious gems, if memory serves. Gold, frankincense and myrrh.

I attended a 'Boar's Head Festival' at Christ Church in Cincinnati almost a decade ago, now, which actually acknowledges the pagan roots of Christmas to some degree. It was interesting and fun, but I gotta be honest -- that frankincense almost made me yak from the smell. I hope the baby messiah had a better experience with the stuff!
