You probably don't know Allan, although I suspect some of our heathen bretheren know his popular blog "Fundies say the darndest things".
http://users.rcn.com/rostmd/winace/fundies/ He is in dire need of financial assistance, as he is suffering frm Cyctic Fibrosis. He posted the following on the Atheist Network, and I thought , since I'm not in a financial position at the moment to donate, the least I could do was help raise awareness for him.
"As many of you folks know, I'm pretty sick at the moment. Really sick. Dying-without-a-transplant-I-can't-afford sick. And without the $400-500 thousand down payment required just to put me on an organ waiting list, it doesn't seem all that promising at the moment. Friends and family have been trying to privately fundraise the money I'll need for that operation, but it's extremely daunting. (See the website they set up, at www.Save-Allan.org ; it recounts my story in far more detail, and allows anyone to make a donation online. The Children's Organ Transplant Association, the foremost charity of its type, is accepting those--fully tax-deductible--for my medical expenses).
I was wondering, would the admins consider adding an announcement on my behalf, referring people to the site? Or give me a mention in their email newsletters, or radio show, or anything? It would no doubt bring a ton of traffic and much-needed attention in my direction. I understand if you have a no-soliciting policy, but I figure it's worth a try. While there's no Hell for me to fear, as the blurb on my site says, "...dying kinda sucks, when you think about it."
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and special thanks for those who are able to give.
