Which eye do you favor? Most people do not realise they favor one eye over the other. But most people do have a strong eye relative to the other. One way to determine which one is your prefered eye is to see which eye you feel more comfortable looking through a telescope or siting on something in the distance with.

So which eye do you favor?

1. I Think I Favor My Left Eye

I happen to be a righty, but I did a quick experiment and pretended I was going to look through a telescope and I closed my right eye and used my left, so I would assume I favor my left eye. :shrug:

the lens in my right eye has a cataract... it's like looking at life through thin drapery sheers.

3. Another way to tell

Is to look at your raised index finger with both eyes. Line it up with an object in the background. Close one eye, then the other. You'll see a less marked shift in your finger's position with the dominant eye.

13. I've tried monovision

and this is the way they determined that my left eye is dominant. Monovision didn't work for me with contacts and it also didn't work for me when I had LASIK so I went back and had the right eye corrected for far vision. I occasionally have to use reading glasses but not often enough to regret having LASIK done. :D

I am trying to determine further evidence for a neurological tendency for skepticism or atheism. Studies have shown that skeptics percieve patterns amidst chaos at a higher degree of accuracy than people who tend to be beleivers.

The studies consisted of presenting a series of chaotic dots. Occasionally there would be an actual image amidst the chaotic ones. The subject was asked to note when they percieved a pattern in the series.

The results showed that believers tended to have a high false positive tally. That is they claimed to spot patterns where none existed more often than not. The skeptics to a much lower degree missed patterns occasionally but had a much better discernment of nonpatterns.

I was attempting to determine if there was a similar correlation between our sense of perception. Each eye is tied to the opposite side of our brain. The images we percieve are assembled from the two images collected by our eyes. The dominant eye providing the bulk of the detail. Since each hemisphere has different emphesys on ways of thinking I was wondering whether this translated to the optical regions as well. Most people tend to be right eyed. I myself am left eyed. But as this very small sample suggests there is no unexpected deviation from the norm in this group.

There may be other areas of neurological difference between atheists and believers but it may not be found in the optical portions of the brain.
