What?! Obviously, Keith is going to rip this assertion apart, but where in the hell did this come from?!x(

Yikes! Thanks for catching this. I missed it, and checked that forum just today... x(

2. I'm surprised you haven't heard about this yet.
This thread has the details:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=214&topic_id=168215&mesg_id=168215

Essentially, a (Democratic!) State Senator in Illinois said the above when an atheist attempted to speak in the legislature against a bill providing $1 million to a church program.

14. Also, she is obviously not a student of history,
regarding her references to Lincoln...:eyes:

If you didn't hear Keith Olbermann's tirade when he called her the "Worst Person in the World," you'll appreciate his take on this... He really nailed it, and her.:grr:

5. Notice how they let her spew her crap and cut of the atheist
Why the person in charge didn't immediately cut her off is beyond me.

6. Obviously, this is pure crap. The leading story in the news today was how the ultra-religious
cultists, polygamists in Texas, had abused children. This is just insane... x(

7. It's next up on "Countdown..." Guess I should check in with KOEB. :-)
Leave it to Keith Olbermann to catch all the crap, and call the "Worst People in the World" on it...

13. I've often worried that he'd get hate mail, and pulled from MSNBC, from the scathing criticism
that he's given Bush*, but his program is the highest rated on MSNBC, so he can get away with saying pretty much what he wants. Dan Abrams, who's now his boss and follows him at 9pm, has expressed much the same sentiments regarding Bush*.:-)

I'm thinking that his audience is mainly comprised of progressives like us, looking for something in the MSM that expresses our views, but you're right about possible hate mail. We should probably write in, as well, supporting what he said last night. He was absolutely right in what he said, no matter what your religious persuasion, and deserves support for doing a courageous and amazing job, given today's political climate... :D

17. She apologized to Rob?
Well, she owes all of "US" an apology, as well. I'd like to see it writing.

And just to point out the obvious, atheism is not and has no philosophy.

said she was upset about another issue that she was dealing with, so she took it out on him...:eyes:

19. Atheists are a convenient target, that's the issue
Having "bad" days, well, we all have them.

I'm feeling way too liberal and forgiving right now.

Stop it, Cindy, Stop it!

20. Not enough
She could have apologised the same day, but no, it took days of criticism, and being named "worst person in the world", to convince her that a notpology would be a good idea. But her tirade didn't come from nowhere: clearly she views atheists in a very negative way, and I doubt whether she's changed her mind about that. The issue will blow over for now, but hopefully atheist voters won't forget. And what about the other people present, who seemed to agree with her? No apologies from them, presumably.

21. Apologized for letting her true feelings show?
Whatever... She can still kiss my ass.

Here's hoping the voters of her district replace her at the next opportunity!

22. Keith called for her to step down.
She really made an ass of herself, and he said so. I guess, in the interest of accuracy, he had to mention her apology. But I agree, too little, too late...:eyes:
