TYT: Was Jesus A Republican? Cenk's Controversial Interview From Earlier Today (Video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJ-kwpVvdjo

Well, I'm sure they'll be some backlash from the religious viewers but I don't disagree with anything Cenk said here. Was he harsh about it? Yes.

But he has good reason to be pissed off in my opinion. This guy (and people like him) IS cherry picking The Bible and using it to promote the Republican political agenda, to the detriment of our country in my opinion. I for one am Glad to hear Cenk rip him a new one.

We need more non-theists in the media.

Also, check out Cenk's Ode To George Carlin: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=385&topic_id=150822&mesg_id=150822

PS---Keep in mind that you can download the first hour of The Young Turks free every day through Itunes. Also, the show loops 24 hours a day at www.theyoungturks.com

1. I normally agree with Cenk but I think he went over the top here!
Am I the only one? He was right to say his guest was abusing the Bible to elect republicans and the abortion point was very good but wasn't he kind of rude when he did not have to be??

2. I understand where you're coming from and while I'm sure he could've toned it down a little
the fact is his guest was ridiculous.

Cenk called him out on his bullshit. And look, the guest's perspective on Jesus is expressed damn near constantly, and has been for as long as we've been alive. So I'm sure part of the reason for the fire is because so many of us think these things but have to bite or tongues (unless we want to lose jobs or alienate certain friends or family members). Not that *I* have any close friends that are right wing religious nuts, but the point is I try to avoid making people feel stupid or defensive unless they bring up the issue first. And yes, you can easily lose a job depending on where you work and what you say. H

Hell, Cenk may have even lost some listeners based on some of the youtube comments.

At any rate, in this case the guy wrote an entire book and came on the show to promote it. And more importantly, he wants to impose his narrow view of religion onto the rest of us which is something I don't and shouldn't have tolerance for.

3. We will have to agree to disagree then
I usually agree with Cenk but I still think he went too far here and was sort of disrespectful to people of faith in some ways. But I will still watch his show of course and hopefully you will not reject and denounce me! ;)
