How do you know when a Dalek has gone insane? |
|
(Doctor Who TV programme , for those of you who don't know): it gets religion! Yes, that's right, when you need to show how a species of homicidal maniacs has really lost it, they start believing in a god, and killing people for blasphemy. Kudos to the writers of the new Doctor Who.

1. Well, that certainly explains why the local PBS station |
|
won't carry Dr. Who.
Not only does he prefer nonviolence, but he's got no use for religion. I think the former may be worse blasphemy than the latter around here.

although there is an infinity of degrees between "losing it" a little, some, a lot, really and completely, that's not the dimension you want to situate people along. What counts is the ability to consider one's belief as *personal*, with no desire whatsoever to propagate it to other. Lots and lots of people, including most Duers, seem to believe that "a little" is fine. Well, it's not. When push comes to shove you find that out rather quickly. I can put up with any kind of belief as long as they remain within the sphere of the individual. I will not with any belief which exits such sphere. Even "a little". I would even say, for obvious reasons, that the "a little" category is worse than the others.

4. Yes, what a way to wrap up the end of the Daleks! |
|
That was a new one, hearing Daleks belt out "DO NOT BLASPHEME!"
I've been impressed with the rebirth of Who. Too bad Eccleston could only give it one season - he made a really neat Doctor. The new one looks WAY too young and "cute".

6. Yes, I nearly fell out of my chair laughing with delight |
|
Not that I saw it of course, being in the US and all... (though I'd gladly pay a license fee if I could get Doctor Who and Top Gear through bbc.co.uk) But why, oh why, does the Doctor continually incarnate as a younger and younger man? I want to see someone in their 50's or 60's as the Doctor.

7. See, Gallifrey is actually in the same star system as Ork. |
|
Aging backwards is how life arose in that system.
