What's a "woo-woo"? In the context of this group of course.

4. The noise steam trains make.
WOOOOO! WOOOOOOOO!

Also a "term of endearment" for magic-believers that they don't much care for ("yer persecuting me")

5. That's kinda what I thought but wanted to make sure...

thanks!! I will now prove my newfound wordsmithology by using it in a sentence.

Y'all probably recall the thread from a few days ago wherein I graciously offered Randi's million dollar reward to the woo-woo who claimed astrology was real. The woo-woo then told me she would be happy to prove the reality of astrological effects as soon as I proved that Deep Impact wasn't a weapons test. By so doing the aforementioned woo-woo placed my inability to prove the impossible between herself and a cool mil in her pocket.

Edit to revise sentence count to 3.

6. By Jove, I believe he's GOT it!
Indeed!
But don't forget the unwritten rule!

"You can believe ANYTHING you want to, but if you believe that Magic and Religion and "para-normal" activity, etc. is bullshit, you MUST, out of RESPECT for those who actually believe that bilge, keep that opinion to yourself..."

14. Probably deleted because I used W** W**!

I just said that whenever anyone posts about their Miraculous Powers of astrology, talking to dead people, or channeling ancient warriors who mysteriously speak in the awful prose of cheap romance novels...I always refer them to James Randi's Million Dollar Challenge.

I don't know what was offensive about that. Could the chicken-shit anonymous lurker with the quick ALERT impulse please enlighten me?

16. Gee that's pretty much what I said too...except I was referring to
a specific "w**-w**" in a particular thread but I didn't get deleted. Now I feel like a second-class citizen...again.

Can I alert on my own post for being self-offended?

...I think.

Wasn't it Groucho who said something along the lines of "I want no part of a club that would have me as a member"? :7

15. I'm seeing lots of cornfields here in Egypt...
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 01:29 PM by onager
...and AFAIK, not a single crop circle ever reported!

Wonder why those things only appear in the very places they are most likely to be spotted by the gullible?

For the record...ladies and gentlemen of the Unseen Jury with the Quick Alert Impulse...I actually made a civil post over in the Ancient Whoozis forum. Some people were talking about all the Sacred Places they wanted to visit and the Pyramids/Sphinx came up.

I just asked them VERY nicely not to come over here and start jacking their jaws about aliens building the Pyramids. The Egyptians hate that nonsense, as well they should. It's an incredible insult to their culture, not to mention the human culture in general.

One tour guide told me that it's ONLY Americans who ever ask him about aliens building the Pyramids.

No wonder we're suffering thru a second term of GW Bushit...
