Superstition night at the ballpark...
Sounds like a lovely evening, doesn't it. :eyes:

If you billed it around faith, they will certainly come

By Reid Cherner, USA TODAY

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Three-year-old Jonah Peck is concise when asked why he came to Municipal Stadium from McConnellsburg, Pa. "Bob and Larry," he says.

The allure of a 7-foot cucumber and a rotund tomato is hard to deny, even if they weren't the stars of the VeggieTales videos and books that combine Bible tales and cartoons.

...

It is "Faith Night" at the ballpark. The Class A Hagerstown Suns are among the minor league teams, mostly in the South, that will bring in Christian entertainers, have players give their testimonies, conduct faith trivia quizzes for prizes and have giveaways that could include biblical bobble-head dolls.

The dozens of Faith Nights at ballparks this summer are the latest manifestation of Christianity's increasing involvement in sports. Players pray in the locker room and on the field. They praise God in interviews. And they organize groups including Athletes In Action and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

1. Dammit! I have faith.
Every night when I go to bed I have faith the sun will come up the next morning. I have faith that gravity won't go cranky on me when I'm on a high ladder.

How dare they equate my faith with their superstitions! At least I have a solid basis for my faith. Their god hasn't done a damn thing they can point to for over 2000 years. I'm insulted. Shouldn't they include our faith in the Faith nights? Will they let us give testimonies? :eyes:

Veggie Tales....? They're worshiping CUCUMBERS now?

2. Sorry, but your "faith" is not "faith" but...
facts based on reason and irrefutable scientific inquiry, not superstition. Bad GOPFighter!

that it's almost not fun to go to an event anymore. Every time you turn around someone is either passing out tracts, begging for donations or just plain shoving jesus in your face.

I was always disgusted with how xians wormed their way into NASCAR; but I had always thought that NHRA was better than that.

Just out of curiosity I was cruising their forum and found this gem in a discussion about whether or not it was appropriate to advertise ones' saved status with a bumpersticker.

I love bumperstickers. Because we live in a democracy that allows us the freedoms that we have, we can post anything, anywhere. My DeColores bumpersticker gets me a lot of waves from those in the community. Those who do not know, think it is a gay cult. I like to talk aboaut it to anyone.

DeColores

Gay Cult?! :wtf:
