What's on your summer reading list? |
|
This question was sparked by a post in GD. And it's also a good way to help us hit 100,000 posts. ;)
I'm currently reading:
The New War (by JK)--it's mostly about international crime in the late 90s, but the terrorism parts are very relevant to today!
All Too Human (by George Stephanopoulis)--I found this at Goodwill for a buck; I've just started it, and so far it's really interesting (to a political junkie like me anyway.) It's his own memoir of the Clinton years. And he's a good writer! Very readable style.
for fun: I'm re-reading our collection of Tintin stories (graphic novels by Herge). Aimed at young adults but full of cultural history and fun.

This summer I read
An American Requiem by James Carroll. It is a great autobiographical read revolving around James Carroll's relationship with his father during the Vietnam era
Crusade: Chronicle of an unjust war also by James Carroll --- it is a compilation of his Boston Globe columns about the Iraq invasion
I started --- got about 1/2 way through "Runs with Scissors" by A Burroughs. I really didn't like it and I dropped it last week 1/2 way through.
I am looking around for a short humorous fictional book to read before the end of the summer--taking suggestions.

They all can get it, at least. I have no idea whether a particular store has it currently on the shelves or not. Some do, some don't. But you can get it online, too.
Let me know what you think, if you get it. :)

No fiction or non-fiction books. I seem to be stuck in the Congressional Record and old news archives.
I have now crossed over into utterly boringness land. Sigh!

6. Way too much JK material |
|
and too little fiction!! :-)
Also, The One Percent Doctrine by Ron Suskind, which I can only read in small gulps because it is so upsetting.
I'm not reading enough books, really, and too much online.
