On the Road Again
John Kerry 's moneyman took a break from the books this week to tour with his college band.
"I'm living the dream," Jay Dunn told us yesterday of reprising his role as tour manager for the Balsa Gliders . "It's one last shot at glory."
Dunn, 36, whose day job is finance director of the political action committee of the once and possibly future presidential candidate, formed the indie rock group with college buddies. They played a few gigs after graduation, but eventually work and family life got in the way. Now a married father of twin toddlers, Dunn said the idea of a reunion tour surfaced during a recent trip to the beach: "We looked around and said, 'Look, we're in our mid-thirties. Let's do this.' "

And while his band mates are enjoying the (temporary) life of traveling musicians, Dunn says they're not exactly experiencing stereotypical rock-and-roll craziness on the road: "We're traveling in a minivan with Cheerios in the back seat left there by someone's kid." Dunn says Kerry supports his midlife wandering and "just hopes we have better success than the senator's high school band, the Electras."
