Kerry/Feingold team up to urge diplomatic efforts in Uganda
Uganda: U.S. Demands Role in Talks with LRA Rebel Leader Joseph Kony
September 2, 2006

US senators have written to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice demanding that the Bush Administration takes a more active role in the ongoing peace negotiations between the Ugandan government and the Lord's Resistance Army.

"Elevated attention and support from the United States will be decisive to the success of the negotiations," states the letter written by Wisconsin's Russell Feingold and signed by other U.S lawmakers, including Senator John Kerry, who came close to becoming president in the last election.
...

In an earlier interview with the Black Star News in the US, Senator John Kerry said the U.S. wasn't doing enough to prod the two sides in Uganda's conflict towards peace.

"We can't sit by as tens of thousands of children are abducted to be sexually abused or used as child soldiers," Kerry told The Black Star. "There are an estimated 1.5 million displaced people throughout the region. If all that doesn't cry out for America to stand up and act, I don't know what does?"

1. good for them
it's good to see they can still focus on the importance of working together while getting something done to help people even while both are considering running in the Primary .

2. Excellent.
This is an opportunity to put true moral values to work - too bad no one in the Bush* Administration actually has any. I applaud Sens. Kerry and Feingold for calling for action.

3. Excellent!
Wonder if this will get any mention in the U.S. press, or are they too busy covering for the Bush admin and defending Wal-Mart?

4. Hey, give them a break, will you?
They've got other news to cover.

Does veil show face of Jesus Christ?
Jessica Simpson's voice cracks in 'Today' act
NASCAR champ jokes about flipping car

http://www.cnn.com/

It's not like they have 24 hours a day to devote to news or unlimited space on a website.

And why do you hate Jessica Simpson?

5. You make a point GV.
I for one did not know that Jesus Christ was apparently a cartoon character. Now, after watching that story, I do. Hmmmm, I wonder if He would rather there be peace in Uganda or no cracks in Jessica Simpson's voice?

6. I neither believe or disbelieve it.
I grew up with the story. We took a field trip every year to watch the Passion Play (Veronica's Veil) when I was in grade school, and I thought it was great to get out of class for a day. There are a great many religious icons that are major works of art, and I think the architecture of Catholic churches is inspiring, but more because of the beauty of the art and architecture itself.
I even have a pretty extensive collection of crosses. Mostly Celtic or celtic inspired. They're pretty.

But I do think He's more concerned with the plight of the people of Uganda, and I believe He'd rather we were, too.

There still remains the question of why ProSense hates Jessica Simpson.

8. That's good to hear
I remember hearing about what's going on there from a classmate who had been a missionary there and it's heartbreaking. Good for Kerry and Feingold, and hopefully the administration will isten.
