U.S. Embassy Hit In Iraq

CNN reporting the emabassy hit just a few moments ago. No details yet on casulties. All they know right now is that their was a explosion at the embassy inside the green zone.

Two US personnel have been comfirmed dead at this time several wounded as of now.

I can not comprehend the level of arrogance and cruelty that would be required to take us from one of the most respected nations in the world and plunge us into the quagmire that we find ourselves in now. I do not know who I hurt for most, our soldiers and heir families, or the innocent people in Iraq.

When is * going to see it's a total disaster? It's truly disgusting. My gut is telling me more bloodshed is coming this weekend. Those insurgents are pissed and are not going to stop. What's worse is watching the news reporting like the US has made it better for the Iraqis. Such a joke! Thanks for the welcome. This is by far my favorite forum here on DU. Even though I don't post that often, I'm always reading. Ever since the election, or I should say, election theft, I've been here almost everyday. It's so comforting to find other people who see what happened and who still believe in John Kerry.

4. This is sad

I hate to see what tomorrow is going to bring it will be terrible then. This is the biggest quagmire since vietnam. And it just keeps getting worse. The innocent people of Iraq have nothing their whole country has just about been demolished, they have to live in unsanitary conditions, and they are scared to death to even walk out of there home. And our poor troops are getting blown away everyday and leaving behind families and many coming home that will be handicapped for the rest of their life because they had their legs, arms, or like one guy half his face blown off. And for what? *'s quagmire. For *'s lies and mistakes.

His abuse of the military is a damn crime. His abuse of the National Guard alone warrants impeachment.

The vets are the ones I worry about every day. It just sickens me that they are being treated so shabbily. Did you hear that sick vets, returning from war with injuries and such are being charged for their meals at Walter Reed? It just can't get anymore disgusting and irresponsible than that. (WaPo story on that last week.)

The regular military is appalled at the neocons. Seymour Hersh was on The Daily Show and he was reporting that some folks in the military are trying to figure out ways to mitigate the damage the neocons are doing. Godspeed to them. They are good guys with a solid support of cilvil liberties and civil rights. * disgusts them.

17. It is sick

I did some research about a year or so ago on homeless veterans. That should be an oxymoron. Homeless veterans. They risk their lives for us, some of them wounded both physically and mentally. I'm sure all emotionally, too. And we thank them by giving them rotten health care (if any)and next to no bennies. It's sick. My Dad was a WWII vet. It's a damned good thing for the breaks those guys (if they were lucky enough to "qualify" civil rights--another issue) got on reduced rate mortgages, etc. and that my Dad had vocational training he could use outside the service. As it was, he had a tough life, and struggled financially.


There's good stuff in some of the old congressional records. Unfortunately, we don't take their long term care into consideration with costs of "war."

18. That Hersh interview

was the scariest thing I've seen in a long time, except for the "Democracy Now" interview he gave last Wednesday: Seymour Hersh: "We've Been Taken Over by a Cult". Even Jon Stewart couldn't get him to lighten up.

19. I agree. Hersh was scared last year

and really wanted Kerry to win. He is now resigned to bad things happening. The whole world hates us and is moving to marginalize us as much as possible. The Chinese and the Indians are already post-USA. (In terms of our having the clout we used to in the world. Our debt precludes this. Our work policies preclude this. They view themselves as able to step in and assume the leadership role and the financial role we used to have.)

Did you see Kerry pull out the headline today about the world shnning US securities (Treasury issues)? That, with the war, is scary as hell. Sell your stocks people, bad times are coming. Burn the credit cards and make sure you can pay off your mortgage every month. The *ies have sold us a bill of goods and we are going to have to pay up soon.

so this hits home. He's at a safe one currently (they do two-year rotations) but he was in Liberia during that uprising a few years ago. :scared:
