I believe Senator Kerry, I know that is biased but I trust and believe him, I do not trust or believe any of the 3 above.

2. Another reason not to believe them is Lautenberg's answer |
|
to a question while he was speaking to Democrats in Morris county. Lautenberg voted for and likely knew a large percent of the people at this fundraiser were not happy. He did not make these sleasy claims. What he said, confirmed Kerry's interpretation.
On Habeus Corpus - he said it was unconstitutional, not that it didn't do away with it.
On Torture, he said it got rid of some of the worst, not that it did away with it.
Their comment on the GC seems to say a President always has the right to "interperet" a treaty. Our word however will be worth nothing if we can interperet yes as no.

3. In addition, I believe Marty Lederman of Georgetown Univ. |
|
He said in very technical, legal terms that the bill leaves discretion to the pres. as to torture. Sorry, not good enough.
In a twisted way, McCain/Warner/Graham are lying to themselves. They simply do not want to believe what they just did. Well, sorry, guys, you're all pretty bad negotiators when Bush comes out of it saying he got all he wanted.

5. Like I believe Powell at the UN |
|
Sure, you can piece meal and find somebody to back up what he said. But is it truth, or as Colbert says, truthiness.
That WP piece might be true if you have responsible leadership that follows the letter of the law. But not with this bunch. Will they adhere to the 'enemy combatant' restrictions, or throw it out at the first chance. Does it matter if detainees have habeas for 10 year sentences and murder charges when they don't have it for anything else, including if they're being tortured.
Bunch of bunk.

6. McCain is a slimy two-bit political opportunist of the worst kind |
|
I would say, given his continued fellating of the Bushies after their despicable slurs against his family in 2000, that he would sell his very soul to get political power. But that would be inaccurate. His soul isn't worth enough to buy him power. At best, it has bought him a place on his knees in front of the Chimposter's lap, and maybe a new pair of pants when all that rubbing wears holes in his knees. Although I'm not even sure of that. There are whores with hearts of gold. But the soul of an opportunistic whore isn't worth a slick piece of gold painted brass.
If McCain gets the 2008 nomination, it will be because he was the best of a monumentally sorry lot. The right-wingers don't trust his lying ass either. It seems that the only people who do are the politically unaware who are still stuck in 2000.
Warner? Bleurgh. The first time he really appeared on my radar was when I randomly switched on CSPAN and he was rambling on about something.
Graham? Never really got on my radar until now, with this vote.
More importantly, though, what they say conflicts with what Kerry says. Who you gonna trust, a man with a sterling record of integrity, or a demonic version of the Three Stooges?
