Could people push this post (if they think it's good)
I was disappointed that few people (other than us) posted on DD's Iraq for Sale post. If DU really wants to have an impact - this is an opportunity. The Foley scandal is there, but it has had its impact and likely is almost over - though its impact will live on. That hits the Republicans as the party of values. The other strength the Republicans have had is that they have wrapped themselves in the flag and have implied the Democrats weren't for the troops.

I embedded a link to DD's post in a post that tried to reframe it as a call to activism - which it really is. The fact of the matter is that the Republicans will try to play national security again - this directly hits that issue.

I also am going to do something I never did before - sending Kerry's email to most of Eric's and my address book. (A BIG step for a Midwestern born and bred woman, where you don't push politics)

1. Karyn,
I canvassed for Menendez today in Chatham, very Republican as you know. Interesting, a lot of undecided voters.

nothing like my blue Jersey area. I get the impression that a lot of people aren't impressed with Kean. It will be interesting to see how well the Democratic candidate for Congress Tom Wyka does against Rodney Frelinghuysen.

4. Wyka has NO chance
I think the Frelinghuysen, father and son have represented the district for decades. Millicent Fenwick was in between them. Most people think of him as a moderate and he was one of the Rep who held out on ANWR saving it when the Senate couldn't. (I just realized that if Stevens doesn't pass this in the session after the election, if predictions are right, he may have a complete final melt down,) Even at a county fundraiser, he described his effort as a 2 election committment. He doesn't think he can win the first time. Our county arboretum is the Frelinghuysen arboretom, donated by a distant relative of his.

6. I don't know
On one hand, we actually have more democratic volunteers

On the other, last year we had 2 excellent assembly candidates - smart, appealing, and willing to work very hard. In the past, we always had people who were complete sacrificial lambs. They did only marginally better. (The guys they ran against were the jerk, who broadcast to colleagues and reporters a stupid email before Kerry came calling him "Lurch" and suggesting that people lock up their wives - and he was the better of the two. The other got publicity by telling a 13 year old diabetic lobbying him on stem cell research that it was wrong and it would be better if she died than they did that - or something equally heartless.)

What's weird is the people who vote them in are nice decent people - who know none of this - they just look for the R.
