Anybody watching the Allen/Webb debate?
After Webb gave an intelligent answer on Iraq, Allen just brought out the usual slogans. Damn, that guys needs to get out of the Senate.

3. Every time he starts talking, it's talking points. Not real thoughts.
Webb is simply more interesting to listen to.

5. He's scripted and
his answers are void of nuance. Gay marriage: the most important institution in this country is the family....

Shut up!

17. A walking talking point
That's clear. Hopefully lots of people will see that. Webb seems a bit rough still, but maybe that will appeal to people who are looking for some honest representation.

21. He was
My husband really liked him and that's the voter he needs to reach, so that's a definite thumbs up. Those ads at the end were great too.

Watching MT now, I want to see Tester kick Burns' ass. Burns was my Senator while I lived in MT, I've been waiting for this day for a loooooong time!!!

that's his real energy plan, and it's been that way for 15 years. Excellent.

9. Getting heated
Allen is such an ass. I wish I was there we have had to pay taxes for the last 4 years. The last time we ever had to pay taxes was when 41 was in office.

How many times is he going to bring up John Kerry.

25. You mean the names of the people he can spell
I just wish someone would ask him to spell the name of the state he hates the most. That would take him all night.

Don't any of these rightwing bastids hate the Sens from other states or are we just 'special'?

26. Haaaaaaaaaa!!! Yeah, I swear he mentioned Clinton, Kerry
and Kennedy at least three times. But he didn't know the names of the islands off the coast of Taiwan. I bet you Kerry could have answered that question . . .

18. And Webb most eloquently called him out in the closing statement
calling what he said "absurd". I'm really proud of Jim Webb tonight.

15. Beautiful closing statement by Jim Webb.
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 07:57 PM by beachmom
It actually gave me goosebumps when he asked Reagan Democrats "to come home". I think he won the debate. Poise is what Jim Webb had, and sincerity, too.

Edited to add: I'm feeling good about my primary vote, and thank John Kerry for endorsing Jim Webb, which helped me make the right decision.

22. The hint was one of those "moments"
He was so gracious, saying -- well, even if you support other candidates . . . kind of like he was saying "I respect your decision no matter what you do". That was pretty amazing, now I think about it.
