Clinton Comeback
The former president has returned to center stage. Can he make a difference to the election outcome?
...

I have been saying for a while now that I did not like the idea Bill was campaigning for 06. I was more than PO Sunday as all the media were all about what Clinton said at Boston (though he did not say a lot) and ignored all the other speakers, including Patrick.

I guess this Newsweek article makes it pretty clear. His campaigning is about him taking the lead again.

Democrats have been building their success while he was cozying up with Bush and now, the victory would be his?

1. That's annoying because the reasons the Democrats are doing well
have nothing to do with Clinton. Yeah, he will claim it - the question is whether people will believe it. From Du, the answer may well be yes - as several seem to believe that Bill's speaking out moved others - the coverage of Kerry, Dean and Gore has been weak enough that people may believe it. (Olberman and Rich are well informed enough to know better - and you saw what they said.)

My hope that a burst of Clinton will will bring back memories of the bad with the good.

3. I saw part of his speech on MSNBC today
I'm ashamed to admit, he still sucks me in -- he is a gifted politician. But once the TV is turned off, that feeling dissipates with it. He was talking about his welfare reform bill; well, you know, that was a long time ago, and we've got a war going on, we've got habeas corpus being suspended and torture allowed by Congress, and just so many things going on. And yet, he's talking about . . . HIS presidency.

It all may backfire for Hillary, you know. Even if Bill wins people over, how is that going to help her, when they realize she doesn't have HALF the charisma he has.

And, once you study a politician like John Kerry who does behind the scenes what he talks about on stage, you just can't go back to two faced politicians who say what you want to hear, and then compromise away principles like not torturing once the cameras are turned off.

4. I am with you on this. But, we really know who did the hard work.
I intend to mention it to anyone who brings up Clinton.
