Kerry is the "Democrat" in this person's diary. I like that. Give it a read, as it also discusses a lot of the races. The diarist is optimistic but thinks we shouldn't be overconfident.

1. I agree.

We need to be cautious. I ask myself, what have we- collectively- as a party offered the American people as an alternative to the Republicans and frankly, I come up short.(Senator Kerry is the exception) It is all about Iraq.Our leaders- especially Reid, have been ineffectual in getting our message out. Don't you ever wonder why Reid never appears on talk shows or radio programs? If we are lucky enough to gain both houses, it won't be because we have been the better party, just that we aren't the Republicans and haven't screwed up as much as they have. I consider this our party's chance to prove ourselves to the public- if they trust us enough to allow us the majorities, we had better not let them down.
