7. Okay -- looks like my semi-panic attack yesterday was unwarranted

And, actually, the whole post shows JK had a great blog day -- things were written about him all over the place, and they were mostly positive, even Kos's grudging if still full of it (FINALLY aboard -- yeah right) acknowledgement that JK had done good. By the way -- anybody look at Kos's post and realize there was no need to comment because others there already had JK's back? Somebody even said "finally aboard? The guy's been running the ship!", which there was no way I could top. And the haters called out me and Mass -- it looked to me like it was the haters who were actually more obsessed with him than even us!!

I really do like the JK blog -- great stuff over there -- and it feels good to even have a small role to play in fighting the good fight.

like you were yesterday, and I understood why you were freaking out a little, but you did GREAT. The mere number of comments your post earned puts the lie to the haters' assertions.

as you tell the truth and the facts back you up, it's all to the better in the long run........even though it doesn't feel like it while it's happening.


I used to get into major primary battles here, and when people would hunt stuff on the web to shoot me down, instead they'd discover more background info beneficial to JK's character and record.

During the Biden-Lugar battles, one of the more openminded souls here completely broke down the analysis of the IWR and the Biden-Lugar version of IWR and made note that neither could have stopped Bush from making the final decision he made - - actually, NO resolution would have as Bush was prepared to lie as much as he needed to, as DSM proved.

and thought it great that the few JK comments were good and not from us. I considered troll rating the comment on you and Mass ,but thought it would be counterproductive. Also, I want to find out what the troll rating means - because I used it as I would an alert - but it seems it has a different purpose and is not designed to be used just for obnoxiousness. I don't even know why in the midst of posting to your diary, I suddenly got troll rating power.

We're talking Swiftboat talking points -- these people get zapped pretty quickly, but it's our duty to police the place.

I did troll rate somebody who said "they didn't give a shit what you had to say". I found that extremely abusive, and did a TR. But I really try to hold my fire.

I think I also zapped teresainpa once, because what she said was really awful.

Well, this is interesting:

"Purity Trolls". These are trolls from the left. Otherwise known in reallife as drama queens. No matter how pure your position is, their position is more pure. No matter how compassionate or informed or skeptical or vigorous your opinion is, theirs is more of it. These trolls are insistent that they are the true spirit of liberalism, and spend their time being quite put out that the rest of us don't turn over our resources, our audiences, and our respect to them, regardless of how thin their positions may be on the merits. Drives me nuts, personally.

The first three kinds are easy enough to deal with. The fourth is more pesky and more irritating, since they won't take the hint that if they're really so far left that they think Howard Dean and Al Gore are fascists, we don't want them here, and there are other sites that would welcome them more openly, and good luck with that.

There is also a fifth kind of troll: the simple asshole. It doesn't matter how pure your motives are, if you can't get along with other users, you're not doing yourself, them, the site, or anything else any good. 90% of all trolls are banned because of their behaviors towards other users, not because of their opinions.
