GRAND RAPIDS -- U.S. Sen. Carl Levin today called on Democratic colleague Sen. John Kerry to apologize for controversial comments about the troops in Iraq, calling them a "botched statement by a former candidate who doesn't represent this party."

Speaking this morning at Wolfgang's Restaurant in Grand Rapids, where he was campaigning for Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Levin said of Kerry: "I would say I'm sorry for making a botched remark, admit that it was a botched remark."

He "represents this party" a fuck of a lot better than you, asswipe.

Actually, Carl, he DID apologize for botching the joke - however, he is NOT apologizing "to the troops" because he didn't fucking insult the troops.

Gee, Levin was behind the cowardly "withdrawal" bill meant to deflate Kerry/Feingold. :tinfoilhat: anyone?

Fuck him. Another Weeniecrat on my ever-growing shit list.

1. Levin should keep informed - Kerry did just that.

2. Oh, FOR the LOVE.
Way to turn this into a referendum on who leads the party.

3. I wonder who Carl thinks represents the party?

Reid? He's been a good little lapdog for Reid's anti-Kerry agenda of late. We can thank them for their pathetic non-binding spineless "Iraq resolution" designed solely to make Kerry and Feingold look bad.

Fuck. Him.

4. I'm asking myself the same thing.
He's been on this trajectory for months now. Unfortunately, he's not standing with the side of the party that stands for something.

9. It always is
Everything to do with John Kerry is a referendum on the party, by the left or the centrists. If he actually runs after this mess, I'll be stunned. I don't know how anybody can have the inner strength to muster through this garbage, I really don't.

11. ARRRRRRGRH STOP BEING DEFEATIST
Not just you but god damn can we please stop talking like he will never be president? This kind of bullshit is just a taste of what's to come and if we fucking wilt under the pressure now, NO we won't make it. That's why WE have to persevere.

13. Just a reality check
I would imagine the campaign is tallying up who is siding with who right now. I think we should be too.

And WEL, I really honestly do not know how he stands it. I really don't. If he does run, this primary is shaping up to be as ugly as it can get. The heart of the party really will be at stake - and if he doesn't run, we're screwed too. Just looks like reality to me, that's all. I'm really pissed that so many Democrats weren't smart enough to turn this back on Bush.

I can't stand it and it's not even me in the crossfire.

I hate politics so much I can hardly breathe.

15. My email groups are blazing
They've been quiet for months now, pretty much taken over by spammers. But today, lots of people are blathering away. Even a state candidate, which really pissed me off. There's even an email from IAVA that called for an apology. Aargh. How could all of these people complain about the diversion while actually helping to create it!!!

5. At least its for making a botched remark
I'd be far more upset if he called for him to apologize for attacking the troops (as Kerry never did that).

Most likely when he said this Levin was unaware of Kerry's interview on Imus.

He could drop the BS about who represents the party. There is no single representative of the party, but the last Presidential nominee is certainly high on the list.

6. Right.
I have no issue with his statement other than that. All Dem senators represent the party.

12. I wrote him on that, it was uncall for. If Kerry doesn't belong in
the party then neither do I.
