In one of my emails, for additional info. Kerry gets an 81% with the DAV and Democrats do much better than Republicans as well.
http://americansforsharedsacrifice.org/Senate_DAV_Votes.htmOkay, I can hear some GOP apologists whining that the IAVA is
a "radical" Veterans' group - it doesn't represent the mainstream
Veterans. Alright, So how about the Disabled American Veterans (DAV)
(
http://www.dav.org/)?
The DAV gives Conrad Burns a "60%" rating. Max Baucus got an "80%."
Denny Rehberg earned himself a "50%" rating.
So - there's not a "radical" difference between the grades handed out
by the IAVA and the DAV.
How about the US Senate at large? Which party supports active duty
troops, Veterans and military families - and which party just shoots
its mouth off? Well, I'm pretty sure you already know the answer to
that, but, here goes anyway. . . .
The highest grade given by the IAVA to any Senator was an "A-".
Thirteen Senators an "A-" . . . all of those were Democrats.
Twenty-three Senators earned a "B+" . . . 22 of them were Democrats,
the other one was James Jeffords of Vermont.
The lowest grade given to a Democrat by the Iraq & Afghanistan
Veterans of America was a "B-" handed out to Ben Nelson of Nebraska.
The highest grade given out to Republicans were three "Cs" that went
to Lincoln Chafee (RI), Olympia Snowe (ME), and Arlen Specter (PA).
--Averaged together, Senate Democrats earned a "B+".
--Averaged together, Senate Republicans earn a "D." So I guess
Conrad's D+ means that he's a paragon of virtue for a Republican that
is.
Six Senators earned an "F" - they were, of course, all Republicans.
Interestingly enough they're all Republicans from that bastion of
right-thinking patriotism, The South.
Those earning F's were:
--Richard Burr, Republican, North Carolina
--Tom Coburn, Republican, Oklahoma
--Jim DeMint, Republican, South Carolina
--Johnny Isakson, Republican, Georgia
--Jeff Sessions, Republican, Alabama
--Dave Vitter, Republican, Louisiana
