2. The post on what Kerry needs to do for a shot at 2008

is incredible. It was written shortly after the election. All the major things Kerry not only did, but did far better than expected.

He was the one most consistently speaking out, he led on Iraq and Alito - even though he had no official leadership position, and he did more for 2006 than anyone else.

Looked at from this perspective, the vindictive RW attack was because of his successes, in both supporting the 2006 efforts and driving the issues. Iraq was what casued the election wave - and it was Kerry and his allies who pushed that issue not the "let's show them we're tougher on defense" centrists.

4. Re: The flub. I have come to the conclusion, it was a move by Rove to eliminate Kerry

and seized upon by Democrat insiders who saw an opportunity to take him out now, because he had gained a lot of ground and was winning support back for a new run. For me, this explains why something so minor has been continually written about and portrayed so negatively by the media and insiders. If they repeat it enough times, maybe their comments will stick with those who have to decide sides.
