Kerry on Fox News Sunday?
http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2006/11/watch_for_kerry.html

Watch for Kerry to be quizzed on Fox about that 'botched joke'

Topping the fireworks that flew back in September when former president Clinton was on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace will be hard to do, but the show has another potentially feisty guest on its schedule this week:

Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., who the cable news network says will be giving his first major interview since the controversial "botched joke" he made about education, Iraq, President Bush and -- in many critics' minds -- U.S. troops. (Check local Fox News Channel listings for the show's time.)

By the way, video of that Clinton-Wallace exchange -- during which a seemingly angry Clinton said "at least I tried" to get Osama bin Laden -- is still available for viewing here at FoxNews.com. Also still available: The full transcript.

If confirmed, he certainly started hard for his first interview.

1. "In some critics' minds"
An excellent example of media spin by USa Today - they give legitimacy to the smear that Kerry was even referring to soldiers at all. This is the same MO the media had during the actual Swiftboating in 2004 - "Kerry's 'controversial' military record... some critics say he isn't being honest about his record..."

It's only "controversial" because the media decided to present a complete distortion as a valid point of view. Whores, all. </rant>

That said, I'm kind of glad he chose Fox News - they will be the biggest whores about his "joke" and it will give him a chance to come out swinging and put it to rest without the rest of the cowards in the party crying about how he's "hurting their chances."

3. Oh my God, that was perfect
Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 03:12 PM by WildEyedLiberal
After a thorough discussion of how hapless the Democratic nerds have already proven to be, Mary Ann Akers whispers that reporters all over town are "loving" this story. It's so much fun! All the kidz squealed like schoolgirls at prospect of the merciless going-over they are preparing to give these totalbigfatlosers. ("We're so not being mean or anything cuz they like totally deserve it cuz they just don't get it, ok?")

Seriously, when the HELL is the rest of America going to wake up and realize it's been fed a nonstop diet of substance-free malicious tabloid gossip masquerading as "news" for the past 15 years?

4. I'll confirm: it's legitimate.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, it'll be held.

It should be a good interview. I don't know the details of why Fox was chosen, but it could well be that he wanted to get the toughest out of the way.

7. Short of calling old friend Robin Williams and asking to be on
Comic Relief tomorrow night (what an opening that would be) this is good. Face it head-on and answer the questions. Good idea! Sen. Kerry has been in exile long enough and his strong voice on Iraq and this war and That Friggin Idiot's comments from (choke, choke) Vietnam need to be answered.

13. Good idea, I agree
Not very polite questions allow him to give not very polite answers, which under the circumstances is a good thing.

8. Ok, time to don the hip waders
and tune into Faux Spews on Sunday. If our true President is going to do it, his supporters must bravely wade in with him. :patriot:

12. in Boston, it's on local Fox station and on cable Fox News Channel
At least last week, it was on the local Fox station at 10 am, and on Fox News Channel (cable) at 6 pm. These times are likely to be different in different areas-- especially the local-station air times. . As they say, check your local listings.

14. i wonder how he will respond if he is questioned about McCain still
Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 12:24 PM by wisteria
insisting that Senator Kerry insulted our troops. I don't feel he should go easy on him. Mccain's actions speak volumes about his true friendship towards Kerry. He can be gracious, but he should somehow emphasize hat McCain is playing politics with this and he would of thought better of him than to resort to this type of politicking.

15. IMO, he should have a two pronged approach to the botched joke
Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 01:41 PM by beachmom
#1 approach -- self deprecation in flubbing a joke.

#2 approach -- unequivocally saying he most certainly would not insult the troops

Not sure how it can be balanced, but he can't go 100% #2, because he has to admit his part of the error. That shows intellectual honesty and will earn him points.

He should continue to be the honorable one in regards to McCain to show he's a better friend than the senator from Arizona. I'm telling you -- McCain is in big trouble with the Republican base, so he doesn't need to go full throttle, just point out that McCain is catering to the GOP base. A very subtle way of pointing out McCain's lack of integrity, but never bluntly say it.

Edited slightly to add:

Then it is onward to talk about the Iraq War. He has to put the joke to bed honestly and with humility and a commitment to the truth. Once that is complete, he needs to hit HARD about the Iraq War, and also the stupid remarks by Bush in Vietnam.

A tall order indeed, but he is up for the task, of course.

16. It looks like FNS has been replaced with Beltway Boys in the 6pm time slot.
I didn't watch this morning, intending to watch the later showing, but when I check my channel guide on my Direct TV, it shows the Beltway Boys in place of FNS at 6. The 10pm showing is replaced by another show. Yet on the Fox site, they show FNS on the schedule for 6pm and 10pm.

What gives? Did JK do too good a job for them to show him?
