"Adopt a Pundit" Update
http://time.blogs.com/daily_dish/2006/12/quote_for_the_d.html

(Sully):

Quote for the Day
01 Dec 2006 07:44 am

"I don't think any sitting president of the United States is a lame duck when it comes to foreign policy. There's too much power in the presidency, and the interests of our country are too great. If the president reaches out to us in the Democratic Party and really tries to work together, he has a chance to have a legacy here that could be important for our nation and, obviously, for him personally. I've offered to be helpful to Condoleezza Rice. I've called her. I hope we can all work together, but we've got to be tougher in our approach. I believe personally -- and I've said this publicly -- that you have to set a date for the expectation of when the Iraqis will take over their responsibility. And if you don't get tough and have those kinds of benchmarks, then they have an excuse to avoid it altogether," - Senator John Kerry on CNN.

Well, I'll be darned -- what little bird sent him THAT quote?

3. Good for you!
I had an email rat-a-tat with one of the MSNBC guest pundits about debating principles without the gratuitous character bashing. I don't know if it'll have any affect, but at least he knows not everybody out here hates Kerry or is oblivious to party backstabbing politics. He also pushed Vilsack - 'he has a great personal story' - whatever the hell that means. Does Vilsack provide cover for pundits to bash other Dems? Oh I'm not for *ahem* - I'm for Vilsack, he has a great personal story.

4. I think Vilsack is running for Veep.
And I suppose he's starting this early because nobody knows who he is at this point.

5. Hillary May Skip Iowa
http://jabbs.blogspot.com/2006/12/campaign-2008-let-games-begin.html

He's there to be her attack dog, her validation of centrist policies, her excuse for not being able to win in the heartland. And in exchange, a legitimate chance to be considered for VP.

6. Sad when you consider she's from Illinois
Illinois and Iowa are not very different, and yet she's apparently hedging her bets on NOT placing well there. Where does Hillary claim to be from now - New York? Arkansas? I'm not trying to be a smartass but seriously, what state does she claim as "home"?

7. No idea
She does seem to fit best with New York to me though. Sophisticated enough for the city, practical enough for upstate Republicans. Isn't she from a wealthier part of Illinos?? Comparing her to my family in St. Louis, she doesn't seem to fit too well to me. But then, they're Catholic Union Dems, more Gephardt or Truman types. From what my mom said, who lived in Arkansas until she died, Hillary wasn't loved all that much there either. I honestly can't figure out who she is going to get to hit the streets for her in the GE. With Kerry, everybody could find something to rally behind if they took 5 seconds to look for it. Environment, labor, anti-war protester, vet, AIDS, - something. What's Hillary 'cause'?? What am I going to go tell people about? She's a woman and the Big Dog's wife? That's not going to cut it.

8. Her "skills" in the Senate. I read that Atlantic cover article about
how she has great tactics and skills in the Senate. Sounded like an article arguing for her to become Majority Leader, something I would support, by the way. But bully pulpit where your main attribute is your "skills"? Seems pretty thin.

9. She's not from my part of Illinois. I think she's from upstate
Not Chicago as far as I know; maybe a suburb or the northwest? I'm honestly not sure. Northern Illinois is much wealthier than Central or especially Southern Illinois, though.

10. She was born in Chicago
and grew up in Park Ridge, Ill., I have no idea where that is. I lived in Ill. back in 1970 in Waukegan ( my husband was in the Navy) and worked in Forest Park. We lived in a studio apartment and our rent was $75. per month, wow have times changed.

11. Probably a suburb
I have no idea what kind of suburb, though - probably not a crappy one.
