... but there is a German idiom that defines Kerry for me: "Fels in der Brandung". It's a bit difficult to translate. You could say "solid as a rock" or "tower of strength" but it's not exactly what it says in German. A translation word by word would make no sens, I guess: "a rock in the surf". Well, that's the problem with idioms. And after all these years in France, German is still my first language. I just realized that.

I can't think of anyone who has been more smeared, or attacked than Senator Kerry has because he stands up and isn't afraid to lead. Others might have given up long ago and just slinked back into oblivion, but not JK. He has not stopped watching our backs and speaking the truth.
