If today's excellent Hardball interview is any indication of what we can expect tomorrow, it will be another successful day for our Senator.

4.  I think the Ed Schultz time may be mountain.
Ed doesn't come on in the East until 3.
I'm guessing the time I listed is mountain time.
Nothing on wegoted.com about times, though.

7. So, today
Today, he's still in the 3-6 timeslot. So, I guess the interview is at 3:50?

Sen Kerry was good on American Morning today. As he has been. Miles asked the stupid joke question, but it was a small part of the interview.
Did you see it?

8. No, will there be video?
We are so spoiled now. You never 'miss' an interview, you just wait for the video to come out. I remember when .... if you weren't there at the time of the broadcast, you actually missed it. How old-fashioned. LOL!

10. I remember 2004 and 2005...
... when I was arguing all the time with sites like "Crooks and Liars" and other video blogs about the fact that they never put videos of Kerry's interviews up. Most of the time they told me plain and simple that they didn't care about him. *sigh* I didn't get any chance to see his TV appearances if they didn't show up on the networks website. And sometimes Pamela was so nice to put them on her site.

9. Yes, I caught it this morning.
Senator Kerry was excellent- even when answering that flubbed joke question. Kerry does have a good comeback for that. O'Brien was a jerk to ask that question after all this time has gone by. CNN is the only station that keeps this up. It makes me wonder why.

On the subject of the botched joke,I was listening to local talk radio this morning- the Clear Channel Repub,Quinn and Rose, and there was this prerecorded interview segment with Bill Maurer (sp) where he was asked about fake outrage and he specifically used Kerry's situation as an example, emphasizing that Kerry was making a joke about our stupid president. Adding, the White House wasn't outraged, it was creating the outrage to convince some mindless people that Kerry said something he didn't. To say the least, it was good to hear.

Damn!

It's been hard to keep up with him this week. I'm looking forward to the Ed Schultz interview - Ed has been boosting Hillary and Vilsack nonstop.

In fact, I have a post percolating in my head that I hope to write today, regarding Ed's interview with Tom Daschle the other day: http://audio.wegoted.com/podcasting/120406DaschleTom.mp3

If you have a chance to listen to it, I'd be really curious to hear your take.

Daschle, in his wussie way, takes a swipe at Kerry for the joke thing (something about "pulling a John Kerry" - not an exact quote), and then they got into a discussion of how a successful candidate for president has to watch every word, never make a mistake, etc.

It frankly freaked me out.

I understand, obviously, what they were getting at, but for god's sake. Do we want to elect a human being or a robot? How is it remotely possible to run for president under the media 24/7 glare and never, ever make a misstatement? When you factor in the stress and fatigue of campaigning (which is without a doubt what led to Kerry's misstatement), it's just a ridiculous standard.

And if by some chance a candidate was so on point, so rehearsed, and so unspontaneous as to meet the standard, would you want to elect that person?

12. Daschle is doing a favor for some in our party. Some don't want him to run-any
excuse will do. Daschle is a lobbyist now, maybe this was a favor for some recommendation or something. It is pure bullsh*t that no politician running for president ever makes a mistake.Kerry wasn't running for anything in 06. I can't wait for the race to begin and hear some of our supposedly perfect politicians make mistakes. I intend to point out every last one of them. You want to know why Clinton never gives long interviews or comments very often? It is because she puts her foot in her mouth often when she does and she knows it. Or, her husband does it for her.
The baking cookies remark, the plantation comment, the reference to a particular ethnic group pumping gas. Just to name a few.

Schultz is a panderer. What else can I say.I have to question his wisdom if he really is that enthusiastic about Clinton. She will be a hard sell in the Mid-West. I live in a more Conservative part of PA and I can tell you, many Democratically involved people I come in contact with do not like her at all. There is the suggestion that she is being shoved on us whether we like it or not. No wonder she needs so much money to run. I doubt there are going to be many grassroots people willing to hit the pavement to promote her.

13. Ed Schultz interview
It advanced the cause because there is the idea for having the summit. We have paid a heavy price for this long lead time to doing the right thing.

The Senate Caucus was working in, the shock!, Senate business today. (Budgets, economic issues and so forth.)

Sen. Kerry met with Robert Gates, SecDef designee today. Kerry says that Gates is talking the right talk, we shall see how it goes.

14. More points
Kerry reiterates his view that without the political factions meeting, there will not be a resolution to this conflict. That political solution must come from the Iraqis, the Americans cannot impose it. And Americans must push the Iraqis to come to a political compromise. No American troops should have to die because.... (We know this line by now, right? and this argument. It is a very strong one.)

Training: We can have all the training in the world for the troops. However if the sectarian allegiances are more important to the fighters (as a Sunni or as a Shia) then there will be no national Iraqi push to solve this.

Iran & Syria at talks: Kerry will be traveling to that region in the very near future. (Near Syria, interesting.)

15. Will Bush listen?
There is a lot of pressure on Bush to do so. Rumsfeld got fired, The Congress turned over, all from this issue. We have to have a genuine effort on the part of the Bush Admin to change the course.

Mentions Afghanistan, again, as the real front in the war on terror.

17. darn it, I'll have to wait for the podcast now.
XM only carries the first hour of Ed, and they delay it by one hour as well. Then he said "Sen. Kerry at the top of the next hour", so that means not for me. :(

23. As the 3rd ranking Dem on the Foreign Relations Committee
Sen. Kerry went to that area in Jan of 05 and Jan of 06. This time, Sen. Biden has scheduled 7-8 WEEKS of hearings in the Foreign Relations Committee on Iraq starting right off. The Senate comes back on 1/4 and they don't break again until late Feb.

So, Kerry goes now or not until next summer or so.

18. Update on today's schedule:
Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 05:29 PM by dwahzon

Addition: JK will be on Fox during a Special Report at 6pm tonight.

Change of plans: JK is doing Scarborough instead of Cooper. Scarborough Country is on MSNBC at 9pm EST.
